Infestation: Survivor Stories is a multiplayer, online, survival simulation game based in an open world that is plagued with zombies. It is a horror MMO for zombie survival. It is set five years into the future after a horrendous viral epidemic of apocalyptic proportions that annihilated 95% of the world’s populace; one must endure against all the odds through several tactics such as scavenging, defending yourself and banding with others. A progressive and changing open world environment, the Infestation game allows the player to create their own experience. Whether the player wants to survive in the environment, oppose other players such as Lawman or Bandit, create their own strongholds against the hordes of zombies, or developing their own world, the playground is provided in the game. It was developed by Hammerpoint Interactive. It was titled The War Z originally but was rebranded because of trademark issues. You can get the game set up either from the developer website at www.infetationmmo.com.
You can also obtain the game online from steam.
The minimum system requirement for this game is Windows XP/ Vista/ 7 operating system, Intel Pentium 4 3.0GHz / AMD Sempron 3400+ processor speed, 1 GB RAM, 3 GB HDD and NVIDIA GeForce 205 / AMD Radeon HD6250 video graphics card.
The recommended system requirement for the game is Windows Vista/ 7 64bit operating system, Quad-core 2.4GHz or higher processor speed, 4 GB RAM, 3 GB HDD and NVIDIA GeForce GTX460 / AMD Radeon HD5850 or higher video graphics card.
How to install
Click on the link http://www.infestationmmo.com/download/ . This will take you to Infestation Survivor Stories download page where you will be able to download the game.
After the game set up has finished downloading, click on REGISTER ACCOUNT tab option and then register and account. Next, accept the EULA, confirm the email account and serial number that you used during the payment for the game and after that fill in your account data.
Log into the game and finish the installation/patch. Then click on PLAY GAME tab option.
When you have began the War Z client, you will get to the main menu. Ensure that the SURVIVOR tab is in red font. You will notice that there a still no characters and therefore you cannot play the game.
Select CREATE NEW option located on the bottom left part of the page. You will then be taken to the character creation console.
Fill in the name of your character and change their appearance in accordance to your preferences and then click on CREATE SURVIVOR.
Once you are done with creating your character, you will be ready to begin the game.
Click on the PLAY GAME tab option located close to the SURVIVOR tab.
Click on the QUICK JOIN in order to join a random server if you want to.
If you are searching for a server that you already know, select the BROWSER SERVERS tab. You will get a number of listed servers for you to join. Choose any of them then click JOIN SERVER.
If the game freezes when joining a server, the more likely cause of this problem could be poor memory optimization of the engine. Despite its average graphics, the client can get close to 2GB of RAM usage. In the Window mode, it is recommended do as follow in case the client crashes or hangs during testing.
Select the OPTIONS tab and go to the display settings when in the in- game menu.
Modify each setting on the right side of the screen to LOW or OFF using the custom graphics preset.
Apply these changes. Then quit the game client and restart it.
Find out whether the problem has been solved using the QUICK JOIN feature. If it has, continue to the next step. Otherwise, seek another solution to the problem.
Ignore V-sync and anti-aliasing. Select one option of graphics and modify it to HIGH or MEDIUM.
Again, use the QUICK JOIN feature.
If the client crashes or freezes again, make modifications to the graphics option to LOW.
If you find a configuration which seems aesthetically pleasing, repeat steps 5 to 7.
Enable V-sync if you experience screen tearing.
If the launcher stops responding or crashes, follow the following steps in order to fix the problem
Go to the Infestation: Survivor Stories’ main folder. The default folder path is C:\Program Files (x86)\The War Z\
Then right click on the WarZlauncher.exe file and then select Properties.
Then select the COMPATIBILTY options tab.
Tick on the RUN THIS PROGRAM IN COMPATIBILITY MODE FOR: Then select your operating system.
Then tick on RUN THIS PROGRAM AS AN ADMINISTRATOR. At the bottom of the window, click OK.
If the MSVCP100.dll is missing, download and then install either the 32bit Windows or the 64bit Windows Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable depending on the system capability of the operating system in your PC.
Enabling the SLI (Multi- GPU)
Find out how many GPUs your PC has before proceeding with the following instructions
Download NVIDIA Inspector and then extract the file contents with the extension .zip to a new folder in your PC.
Double Click on the nvidiaInspector.exe. Then click on the toolbox button.
Select the CREATE NEW PROFILE button and use a convinient profile name.
Select the button ADD APPLICATION TO CURRENT PROFILE.
Find the location of the main folder of the game which by default is C:\Program Files (x86)\The War Z\. Then select WarZ.exe
Make a modification to the SLI COMPATIBILTY BITS entry to show 0x0240A005.
Click on APPLY CHANGES located at the top right side of the application.
If the inventory shows weird descriptions and names, follow the following steps to fix this problem;
Select the LANGUAGE option from the options menu in- game.
Choose ENGLISH and then apply.
Anisotropic Filtering (AF) and Anti-aliasing (AA)
CustomSettings.ini and gameSettings.ini are the configuration files for this game. They have the entry r_anisotropy_quality 1.
Modifying this entry into another different value seems not to make any changes in-game.
Infestation: Survivor Stories is a multiplayer game. It needs an internet connection which is stable and with adequate connectivity to Europe and/or US. Both the Remapping and mouse acceleration input settings can modified natively in the game.
